Involving local actors in the preservation and dissemination of cultural heritage
The Consortium of the Monumental City of Mérida was created in 1996 as a joint instrument for coordinating the many activities of institutions involved in managing of the town’s heritage. The consortium aims to achieve the conservation, restoration, documentation/research and valorisation of the archaeological and monumental sites through innovative partnerships involving citizen participation and private actor contributions.
